Here are the socks that I made the girls:
I used Wendy’s generic toe-up pattern, just downsized for the smaller feet. The ones on the right are the Toddler socks , and the left Baby socks (doesn’t look much smaller does it? You’d be surprised).
Gague is 8 st./inch on US 1. Using the provisional cast on, I used 24 stitches on the Toddler sock (48 total st. around) and 22 on the Baby sock (44 total st. around), and worked a total of 12 short rows for both toe and heel (on both pair). I worked about 3 inches between toe and start of heel for the bigger socks, 2 inches for the smaller. After working the heel, I knit about another 2-3 inches before knitting picot to turn the cuff, and knit 2×2 ribbing (8 rows for the smaller, 15 for the bigger). The bound off edging is the “picot point chain edging” from Nicky Epstein’s Knitting on the Edge. It made a nice ruffled trim on both pair.
On another note, here’s the cutest little Pookie Bear, feeding herself lunch:
Such a cute idea for the ruffle on the socks!! They would be such a cute baby gift, hmmm….
Baby socsk should be made from cotton since it absorbs more sweat compared to synthetic fibers. ,.*`.
